Sending a command

From a device's detail page, use the command form to send a typed command to that device. The device must be online to receive it: commands are delivered over the device's live connection, not queued for later delivery to an offline device.

Each command shows its own status as the device processes it, so you can tell a command that is still running apart from one that already finished or failed.

Reading device metrics

Online devices report system metrics (CPU, memory, disk, and heartbeat) on a regular interval. The device detail page charts recent history so you can spot a device that is degrading before it goes offline, not just after.

Device status

• registered -- the device was enrolled but has not completed its first heartbeat yet.
• online -- the device has an active connection and is reporting metrics.
• offline -- the device was online before but its connection has dropped (network issue, power loss, or the agent stopped).
